The Cola Boat was featured this year as we hosted Team Great White Hunter as they competed in the East Coast finale.
Day one took us 153 miles offshore to Hydrogophers Canyon in search of an all tackle world record Mako. Team Captain, Hunter Von Leer has been a professional shark fisherman for many years and was in search of the $1,000,000 prize. We saw several sharks, unfortunately none of these were the size to obtain the world record, therefore, Hunter being a sight fisherman did not bait any of these undersized fish.
Day two, after the long run on day one, Hunter Chose to run 60 miles off of the south side of Martha's Vineyard and we set up at the a wreck in 68 degree water. This day the crew chose to set out baits under balloons and within the first hour we had a Mako take the bait in the slick. The Crew efficiently boated this mako.
Team Great White Hunter headed for the west coast finale as one of only three teams with points on the board. It was a pleasure to host this team consisting of Captain Hunter, Wife Fariba and the crew of Mike and Dave.
Congratulations to Dave Schunke and Team Insufishent Funds on landing the biggest mako of their career in the West Coast Finale allowing for the east coast to be victorious over the west.
